Contains the following type of materials: photographs (about half in color). Covers the following war: Vietnam War. Contains photographs of the following military unit: 1st Engineer Battalion. General description of the collection: The David Nichols photograph collection contains a soldier's personal collection of photographs he took while serving in Vietnam, 1970-1971 and in Germany, 1972-1973. His photos show the areas of Vietnam where he served, namely: Fire Support Base Vandsigriff near Khe Sanh; Cam Lo; Dong Ha and Quang Tri. These photos show various aspects of the Army Engineers such as bridge building and repair, clearing areas for fire support bases, helicopter support and basic daily life of an enlisted soldier in "Nam". There are also photos of Vietnam villages and native Vietnamese and scenery of the areas where he was stationed. The photos while in Germany show a unit on maneuvers and training at Graffenwoer and elsewhere.
